Leon has a strong interest in employee ownership. He serves on the board of several ESOP owned companies and was an EVP of the first S Corp ESOP. He also serves on three other boards of directors and two advisory boards.

Leon’s experience prior to Outer Island includes Managing Director North America for Dennemeyer Group, Chairman of Black Hills Group, CEO of National Wind, CEO of Foundation IP, CEO of Intellevate, CEO of Meritas and President of Law & Politics Magazine. He is a lawyer and was a partner at the Maslon law firm in Minneapolis. He received his JD from William Mitchell College of Law
